Fringe Report Awards – Were you there?
Tuesday, 8 February, 2011The Fringe Report Awards were presented for almost the last time at the Leicester Square Theatre in London’s West End last night.
Celebrating, as always, the commitment and skill of actors, writers, directors, producers, technicians and facilitators in film, dance, drama, comedy and music, the Fringe Report awards are as coveted by those who receive them as they are egalitarian in concept and practice.
It is a lovely occasion for the Fringe, because it is the Fringe (as Greg Tallent said when receiving his Award) that makes London the art capital of the world.
The redoubtable John Park, who runs Fringe Report, has announced that next year’s event will be the last, and that Fringe Report itself will close in July 2012. The Fringe Report awards have always happened because of John himself and the support of a small number of sponsors and donors, whose help over the years can never really be properly acknowledged.
Maybe now is the time that some generous sponsor will see the opportunity to get involved with this wonderful night and make 2012 really special.
