The Edinburgh Book Fringe, organised by Word Power Books, welcomes a range of authors – from the bestseller lists and beyond. Seeking to engage locals as well as visitors to Edinburgh, every event at the Book Fringe is free and takes place in the bookshop.
Alasdair Gray, author of A Life in Pictures, will open the Edinburgh Book Fringe 2011 on Thursday 11h August , 1pm, at Word Power Books, 43-45 West Nicolson Street.
Elaine Henry, one of the organisers of the Edinburgh Book Fringe and owner of Word Power Books, said: “We want to give space for open discussions and provide readers with an opportunity to really engage with writers.”
Among the highlights will be Marcel Lucont, explaining what the French really think about the British, Roderick Graham on Scottish philosopher David Hume, and an Empty Chair event, where Scottish writers read the works of the imprisoned.
