Tue 15th – Sat 19th November @ 7.30pm

A Black Madonna, a West African hero or a Sovereign willing to do anything to reign?

This week StoneCrabs bring Queen Pokou to NDT: a new play based on the life of Ashanti Princess Abla Pokou and her legendary journey to create a new nation.

Written by Dean Atta (Winner of The Spirit Of London Award) for StoneCrabs Theatre Company (Winner of the International Press Award for Theatre 2011), this new poetic piece of drama tells Pokou’s story exploring her personal relationships set against the wider historical themes of the time.

StoneCrabs has been producing international theatre work since 2002 and has recently received the International Press Award for Theatre. Many of StoneCrabs productions have been awarded Critic’s Choice from the UK press, such as TimeOut and Metro (Our Lady of the Drown, Waltz #6 and The Damask Drum) and The List in Edinburgh (A Domestic Story of Violence, Vitriol and Victory and Agua Viva), amongst others.
